Craig Hansen, who takes the mound for the Red Sox in the sixth, is one of the few unsuccessful stories in the Red Sox player development program. He was the Red Sox top pick in the draft out of St. John's a few years back. He rose the majors quickly, but injuries and poor play have kept him from sticking with the big club. He guides the Red Sox into the bottom of the sixth, allowing only one runner to reach.
Saw a Kevin Youkilis jersey and was reminded he's not at the ballpark today. I saw him play in Sarasota a few years back, and I'm not sure the Red Sox knew what they had in him back then. He's not exactly a toolsy guy on paper, but he does a lot of good things well. The Red Sox would probably like a little more power out of him, but they would never admit that -- plus they know he's a pretty good and cheap player for now.
