Papelbon's day is done. Julian Tavarez takes the mound, to a mixed reaction from the crowd. They like him more than Mientkiewicz, who was booed once again.
Bixler lines out to right, and I have a parking story for you. As I indicated before, I've never been here before, so I had no clue where to park. I picked $7-lot across the field, but as it turns out it was about as far away from the press entrance that I could have picked, right across the street.
Anyway, $7 was posted everywhere. It was at a church, and I'm sure the money goes to a good cause. I paid up because I don't have a media parking pass. Then a Boston fan parked next to me and started whining that the signs said parking was only $5.
The man taking the money shook his head, but was going to let the guy go paying only $5. This upset me, but I was ready to move on when the parking attendant asked me if I had change for the guy's $20. That's right he was quibbling with a church over $2 when he had a $20 in hand and the sign clearly stated it was $7. I apologized to the guy that I didn't have exact change, which I didn't, but I didn't really want to help the whiny Red Sox fan out anyway.
Back the game, the Pirates put runners (Josh Wilson and Nyjer Morgan) on base with two outs -- against Tavarez, who had a little run with the Pirates.
McCuthen, the Pirates top prospect, gets to do a little two-out hitting on front of the big league manager. He struck out swinging.
Score: Red Sox 2, Pirates
