Howdy, I'm Mike Henry and I was at the Pirates-Phillies game, but technical issues at Bright House Networks Field in Clearwater have delayed my observations from the 3-1 Phillies triumph. Hopefully, you won't find it too stale.
With a brisk wind blowing from right to left field, it's doubtful Adam LaRoche or Ryan Howard will be going deep like they did Thursday. FYI, Phillies fans: Jamie Moyer pitched four shutout innings in a "B" game won by Philadelphia this morning, 1-0. What, Steve Carlton wasn't available?
Sitting in the stands next to Joan Grohe, a dyed-in-the-wool Pirates fans from Largo who got off from her job at noon to bask in the sun. She can't wait for Friday and the historic first night game at McKechnie Field.
"I'm not a big autograph person, but I have one goal this spring--to get Freddy's (Sanchez) autograph on my shirt," she said.
Matt Morris shows that veteran's savvy in the bottom of the first, retiring Chase Utley on a 3-6-1 double play with two men on and striking out Ryan Howard. That's pitching, and it doesn't hurt that LaRoche is a vacuum cleaner at first base.
