Brian Rogers is the new moundsman for the Pirates.
The sun has broken through, and real fans are hoping for extra innings, hoping it doesn't end before they've soaked up as much of spring as possible.
Marco Scutaro leads off with a single. Unusual, indeed, to see a guy (Scutaro) play first base and shortstop in the same game.
While I'm thinking of it, I always enjoy Blue Jays games because you get to hear "Oh, Canada" and the Star-Spangled Banner.
Rogers just hit a batter with a pitch and there are still no outs. Adam Lind drives in a run with a line-drive single, making it 3-1, Toronto. So much for extra innings.
Another line-drive single -- this one by Matt Watson, who played in the Japanese Pacific League last season with the Chiba Lotte Marines -- and it's 4-1 and Rogers is off to the showers.
Jonah Bayliss comes in to get the key double play, so maybe the Pirates can stage a comeback.
