Jaret Wright, hoping to make the Pirate roster, is on. This is fifth appearance of the spring, and he's sporting a 4.50 ERA, and opponents are hitting .313 off of him.
Not great. But Wright has always had great stuff - injuries have deterred his once-promising career. Who knows what could have been had he stayed healthy?
Today, he gets of to less-than-stellar start - he gets ahead of Pedroia 0-2, but walks him. It doesn't get better, as Youkilis rips a single to left center, and Chris Carter - No. 77 - flies out to deep left field, scoring Pedroia from third.
But Wright rights the ship, and Youkilis is left at first, much to the chagrin of the folks in the bleachers chanting "Let's Go Red Sox"!
2-0 Boston.
