OK, I missed a lot, but I saw a lot during Operation Skyline. First of all, ran into former Cards GM Walt Jocketty on the way down the steps. Jocketty did great work with the Cardinals, but had a falling out with the upper management last year and left to work with the Reds. He's a special assistant for the Reds, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him become the GM someday.
Then, I was getting money out of the ATM and ran into a parent one of the parents of a kid I covered for the East Manatee Bulldogs. Forget the dad's first name, but his son is Brian Bjork. He's a freshman at Braden River HS this year. The dad works for the Sarasota police. He asked if I remembered him, which I sort of did. He said the Bulldogs, who won a Pop Warner national title, are spread out to all different high schools, but they are already thinking about a five-year reunion part. That should be a nice thing.
Well, the games moving a long here, so I'm falling behind. While I was away I heard a great applause and knew someone hit a home run. Guess who? Joey Votto. A three-run job off Paul Maholm. The Pirates added another run the top half of the fifth. More on my adventures in the Bottom of 5.
