Maholm retired the side in order in the bottom of five.
Back to Skyline, after my conversation with Officer Bjork, I got my money and headed to the Skyline, uh, line. It was a long one as one guy was in charge of Skyline fetching for the whole stand. There is another bigger stand, I heard, but I didn't see it off hand.
I waited for quite a while as the Skyline guy, a volunteer loaded everybody up with their skyline fix. Not much on the menu. It was coney dogs, coney dogs and more coney dogs - and Aquafina water. I order three (they are small I promise). At 3.50 a pop they set me back a little bit, but I don't have a lot of opportunities for Skyline anymore.
Waited patiently as the people in front of me all ordered 5 or more coneys. This was a popular line. A guy from walked by with a tennis shirt from my old college the University of Dayton. He didn't order any Skyline.
As I mentioned in a previous blog, Skyline is a regional thing. You can mostly find it in the Cincinnati area. I discovered it when I was at UD, and was a regular visitor. It's an acquired taste, I guess. I know people that tried it and hated it. Others took a while to come around. I liked it immediately. Skyline Chili is unlike any other kind of chili. It's not thick at all, and it has a certain sweetness to it. It's also odd that people put mustard on it, I think. At the restaurants, which are all over in the Cincy area, you can buy all sorts of variations of the chili and dogs, and as I mentioned earlier they have great Greek Salads.
Nothing happened that inning. Maholm retired the side in his final inning of work. More skyline later. Have to move forward with the game.
