Clay Condrey is the new Philadelphia pitcher. The right-hander is a graduate of Navasota High School in Texas, the alma mater of Hall of Fame outfielder Frank Robinson and Gus Zernial.
Leaving Jack Wilson, Freddy Sanchez, Adam LaRoche and Jason Bay behind has put a real crimp in the Pirates' offense. No doubt, though, everyone needed rest after Wednesday.
Xavier won, according to a guy in the press box who is more concerned with his office pool than this game. Amazingly, only 16 teams will remain after Sunday.
Howard is facing Snell for the third and final time, and it's 2-2. Howard manages to check his swing and it's a full count.
Howard looked silly on the next one, swinging through some kind of change in the dirt. Chalk one up for the pitcher.
The Strike Out Cafe down the right-field line offers hot dogs, nachos and other ballpark goodies, but it doesn't sound like a great place for meeting people.
Casey Fossum replaces Snell after the starter issues a two-out walk to Snelling. The long ball was Snell's bugaboo today.
