Good morning!
It's just after 9 a.m., and this is John Lembo, staff writer for The Bradenton Herald, and I am looking out over a sun-splashed Legends Field, where the host New York Yankees will welcome the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Game time is slated for 1:05 p.m.
It's the first meeting of the spring between these two clubs, who will also hook up in the regular season when the Yankees head to PNC Park from June 24 through June 26. It will mark the Yankee's first trip to the Steel City since the 1960 World Series, which Pittsburgh won on Bill Mazeroski's walk-off home run in Game 7.
It's doubtful today's game will be as exciting. Then again, with the Yankees, you never know.
Just ask the Rays.
