Bottom of the 2nd

This is one heck of a measuring stick for Paul Maholm - the Yankee lineup is stuffed with stars.

There is no Jason Giambi, Johnny Damon or Jorge Posada. But Maholm still has to weave his way through Alex Rodriguez, the youngest member of the 500 home run club and the leadoff hitter in the bottom of the second.

But Maholm is handling it well. Rodriguez flies out and Hideki Matsui grounds out. OK, now it's time for the No. 6 hitter, time for the lineup to let up a little, right?

Nah.

It's Robinson Cano, a career .314 hitter in three seasons. But Maholm retires him another grounder, and he is perfect, too.

Zeroes after two.
