Bottom of the 1st

Bathed in an ovation that begins the second he steps on the on-deck circle, Billy Crystal leads off for the Yankees.

He fouls a 1-0 pitch down the line, which the crowd tries to will fair. He doesn't look half bad. You'd never mistake Crystal for a full-fledged ball player - but he doesn't look like a fool, either.

The count goes full - but Crystal goes down swinging. Nonetheless, the fans - including Crystal's pal, Robin Williams - give him another ovation as he walks to the dugout. Crystal waves to the crowd and heads down the steps.

Maholm fairs well against the pros, too, as Derek Jeter and Bobby Abreu fly out to close the first.

No score after one.
