Lefty John Coutlangus takes the mound for the Reds. What a lot of people don't know about our old friend Cout' is that he went to the same high school as Herald Staff Writer Grace Agostin. That's Port St. Lucie High folks. Rick Ankiel also went there.
I will be going to Port St. Lucie this weekend. I might be seeing Ankiel. That would give me a Coutlangus, Ankiel and Agostin sighting all in the same week. I'd call that a good week.
Down in the Fort Myers, the Pirates lost to the Twins 4-1. So the Pirates have 1 run in almost 16 1/3 innings today as I blog this. Check that 16 2/3 innings because Josh Wilson just grounded out. Freddy Sanchez gets a hit, and then is pinch run for. His day is done. The Pirates put their first runner on third as Michael Hernandez singles down the line.
Jason Delaney comes to the plate with the chance to put the Pirates on the board for the first time today. Alas, Delaney strikes out and the Pirates are still scoreless.
Thank goodness for that hot-hitting club down in Fort Myers. Without that one run, this would look really bad.
