The talk of the Pirates clubhouse before the game wasn't about the new lights or the Yankees' dangerous lineup. It was about a high school kid named Terrelle Pryor. Pryor, one of the nation's most highly sought after high school players ever, announced Wednesday he would sign with Ohio State. Pryor is from the Pittsburgh area, so you have to figure those guys might have heard a thing or to about the young man over the years. He recently won a state title on the basketball court, but it is believed he will stick with football when he arrives in Columbus.
Phil Hughes wanted no part of The Great McLouth as he hit the Pirates CF to load the bases. Nady and Rivas had already reached by a hit and walk, respectively. The Pirates score two when the Yankees fail to turn the DP. Wilson grounded to third and A-Rod made the play to second to get the force, but Cody Ransom's throw to first went way over Giambi's head and into the dugout.
One earned run, one unearned.
