Bottom 3 - Pirates at Reds

Paul Maholm pitches through a quick third. He has allowed no hits and one walk in three innings. Maholm has looked solid this spring. The former first-round pick will never have the stuff to be a front-line starter but if he can emerge as a innings-eating bottom half of the rotation guy the Pirates can count on, Pittsburgh folks will be very pleased. He wasn't good enough last year, but that was really his first year of full-time work in the bigs. If he makes incremental improvement, the Pirates front office will be happy because he's not making a lot of money, he's a left hander and he might turn into a commodity at some point.
Pirates 6, Reds 0
