Manny Ramirez doubles over Jason Bay's head after Bay misjudged the ball. The guys next me are not happy to see Manny jog into second, but he wasn't ever going to get more than double off that, even if the was running hard. We know, Manny doesn't hustle. He's aloof and seems not to care, but the fact is the guy is not going to change at this age, and his style hasn't really set him back as yet. Besides, it's spring training, and you'd hate to seem him pull a hammy spring around first in a meaningless game. Give Manny a break.
Just noticed hundreds of fans lined up shoulder to shoulder along the main aisle at the ballpark. That's some impressive standing room only attendance. J.D. Drew just knocked home Ramirez from second on a one-hop liner Brian Bixler couldn't get a glove on. Ramirez hustled home and scored easily as Bay's throw was off-line. Sean Casey's Boston's version of Doug Mientkiewicz, struck out.
Dumatrait gets out of the inning with only one run crossing, but his defense didn't do him any favors, no matter what the scoreboard says.
Score: Pirates 1, Red Sox 1
