Morneau doubled home two runs in the top of the inning off Paul Maholm, who was scheduled to start last night's rainout.
But on a day like this, wind the wind blowing out to right field, no lead is safe.
Twins left-handed reliever Brian Duensing made the mistake of getting behind Adam LaRoche, who drove a 2-0 offering over the right-field wall to make it 6-2. LaRoche has two homers this spring and is batting .429 (6-for-14).
The next batter, Ryan Doumit, also took Duensing downtown, giving us back-to-back home runs in consecutive innings. Can't beat that for fun at the old ballyard (unless you're a pitcher).
I can't imagine beer sales are going briskly today, although it looks nice in the bleachers, which are bathed in sunshine. One guy even has his shirt off (must be from International Falls, Minn.).
Speaking of which, I once met Bronko Nagurski.
Duensing can't get the ball over the plate now, so Juan Rincon has been summoned to face Nyjer Morgan with the bases loaded. We're well on our way to topping Friday's 21-run total (the Pirates beat the Reds 13-8 in similarly windy conditions).
Rest assured, baseball fans: Although I haven't seen The Babe Ruth Story with William Bendix on cable in years, enjoying it does not make you a bad person.
Rincon got out of the jam with two K's and a line-drive out, so the Twins lead 6-3 after four.
