Mike Mussina just busted Adam LaRoche with an 0-2 fastball. He has now retired 14 straight, looking sharper here in February than he ever looked last summer.
Mussina nearly threw a perfect game on Sept. 2, 2001, at Fenway Park. He was one out away before Carl "Dinosaurs? What dinosaurs?" Everett broke it up with a pinch-hit single.
Today, he gets Ryan Doumit to pop up, and the Mooose calls are out. Mussina, who gets a hand from Yankee manager Joe Giardi, is probably out, too.
But you can't argue with five perfect innings.
No score.
