Top 3 - Reds at Pirates

Corey Patterson leads off for the Reds in the third, drags a bunt down the 1B line but is tagged out, but is tagged out by the Gorzelanny. Patterson, a very late signing for the Reds, was virtually assured of the opening day CF job when the Reds sent Jay Bruce down earlier this week. Bruce will get his time, but the Reds are likely looking at the service time clock, just like the Rays with Longoria.
Jeff Keppinger, a journeyman utility infielder, and former Pirate might be the Reds opening day SS with Alex Gonzalez on the shelf. Keppinger singled and advanced to second on a Griffey ground out. Phillips grounds sharply to 3B to end the inning.

Reds 1, Pirates 0
