Top 2 - Pirates at Reds

Ryan Doumit smacked a doubled to left-center to open the second. Xavier Nady follows with a run-scoring single up the middle, and already the Pirates have scored more run(s) that they did the last time I blogged from their game against the Reds and Fogg. Jose Bautista hit a hot shot into the Reds dugout, drawing some oohs from the fans. Everybody seems all right as the players joke around on the top step. On the next pitch, Bautista nubs one to short left for a hit, then Luis Rivas (having a nice camp) does his job by grounding the ball to the right side and beating out the 4-6-3 DP attempt. Run No. 2 is on third in the person of Nady.
Nady scores when Josh Wilson flies out to moderate RF and Griffey Jr. Griffey came up throwing and it looked like there might have been a play but the throw was cut-off by Joey Votto. Fans were booing that even before he threw to second and the Reds had no one to cover first when Rivas strolled back without a play. The fans buzzed a negative buzz about that one for awhile, but the inning ended with only two runs crossing.

Pirates 2, Reds 0
