Top 1 - Phillies at Pirates

Not to get all inside baseball about the press-box, but it's a packed house up here. Really, it's only about half full but a few folks have claimed squatter's rights by putting their bag or computer in a spot and taking off for parts unknown. We may never see those people all day, but they have a spot. Bless them. Anyway, I'm a little bitter because I'm stuck behind a pole and can't see much. We'll make do.
Some of the later arrivals, tried to set up shop in the mayor's box, which looks empty. But they now look like they are being sent elsewhere.
J-Roll leads off with a nice at-bat, running the count full before taking a walk. After Victorino popped out. While Greg Dobbs was batting and Ryan Howard stood on deck, I wondered if Ryan Howard was thinking about former St. Louis U Billken great Donnie Dobbs. Dobbs was a 6-foot-3 forward. That's not a misprint, he was 6-3 and he could play a little ball. He was one of the team's top players in the early 90s. Howard, a St. Louis area native, has to remember that Dobbs and now he's playing with one. Alas, Howard might have been thinking about SLU basketball at bat, because he struck out to end the inning, with Rollins on second. Dobbs had moved Rollins over on a ground out.
Score: 0-0
