I am in nobody's Hall of Fame (I think). So I'm impressed Van Benschoten was inducted into the Kent State Hall of Fame this season.
There are supposed to be fireworks after the night game at McKechnie. What I want to know is, who's paying for them, the city or the Pirates?
A walk and an opposite-field single by Paul Bako have Van Benschoten in trouble again.
But the pitcher's best friend -- the double-play ball -- has the inning back to manageable. Odd to see the relay by shortstop Jack Wilson skip in the dirt, but LaRoche rarely misses those kind.
Nice sound effects on a foul ball out of play by Ryan Freel -- a window shattering, drawing a bit of laughter from property owners.
Freel grounds out and Van Benschoten's reliance on his infield pays off.
