Bottom of the 9th

John Grabow enters to start the bottom of the ninth in a game prolonged by Pittsburgh's four-run rally in the Pirates' half of the ninth.

The Tigers exercise some fundamentals - Freddy Guzman singles and Ramon Santiago bunts him over to third. Props to Tiger skipper Jim Leyland, because I love small ball.

Then a strange twist - Guzman steals third with two out. Cardinal baseball sin - never make the first or last out at third. But Guzman slides in safely, so there is no need for contrition.

No need for the steal, either - Grabow fans pinch hitter Michael Hollimon to end the inning.

6-6 tie. Time for the 10th.
