Bottom of the 1st

Check out Boston starting pitcher Kyle Snyder's Wikipedia entry. You'll find a picture of the Riverview alum cradling the World Series trophy. Not bad at all.

Nate McLouth leads off for the Pirates, and while manager John Russell hasn't said as much, you have to figure McLouth is leading the battle for the team's centerfield job.

McLouth, who pops out, enters today's game hitting .370 this spring. His competition, Nyjer Morgan, is at .237. But Russell has said he doesn't let stats tell the whole tale, and judges players on other factors, such as consistency.

Well, a guy hitting .370 sounds more consistent than a guy hitting .237. But I ain't managing.

Snyder zips through the first inning. Boston is up 1-0 after one.
