Evan Meek was selected by the Pirates from Tampa Bay's Triple-A Durham roster in December in the Rule 5 draft. He has yet to appear in a regular-season major league game.
Meek gets Matt Stairs to fly to Nyjer Morgan in center. Two outs left, and the Pirates will own their second two-game winning streak of the spring.
Wednesday -- weather permitting -- will be the long-awaited first night game at McKechnie, against the Yankees. That'll be a circus atmosphere.
It was supposed to happen March 7 against the Reds, but Mother Nature failed to cooperate.
A walk and a bloop single by Marco Scutaro and the Jays are still alive. Reed Johnson is up against Meek, the infield at double-play depth.
Winning at this level never comes easy.
A liner to left makes it 4-1 -- the same score of the last two Jays-Pirates games, but with Pittsburgh leading.
Meek strikes out Matt Watson and the Pirates win again. Talk to you soon!
